Phyllis F. Mertz

Phyllis F. Mertz, 78, of Mohnton, passed away Tuesday, January 7, 2025 at 10:50 pm at Reading Hospital. She was the wife of the late Gregory Mertz who passed away in 2001. Born in Reading, Mrs. Mertz was the daughter of the late Lester and Stella (Eagan) Schaeffer. She was of the Lutheran Faith and was employed by Willson Safety Products in Reading as a machine operator. Mrs. Mertz is survived by her children TeAnn L. Hartman wife of Kenneth C. Hartman with whom she last resided; Eric J. Mertz husband of Jennifer L. Mertz of Cumru Township; grandsons Joshua Hartman, Justin Hartman, Ethan Mertz, Liam Mertz. She was preceded in death by her brothers Lester Schaeffer, Jr., Richard Schaeffer and Ronald Schaeffer. In her spare time, she enjoyed various hobbies. Watching the birds on the back deck, reading a good book, working on a puzzle, hanging out and going for lunch with her girlfriends, spending time with her family, and going on various bingo trips or to the local bingo hall.
