Pauline "Cookie" (Lepore) Ganter, award winning Hairstylist, renowned Educator, and Mentor, 68, of Flying Hills, passed away on Saturday, August 7, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. surrounded by her loving family and friends, at the Reading Hospital and Medical Center.
Born in Reading, she was a daughter of the late George Pachuilo and Anna E. (Farrara) Pachuilo. She was the wife of Dennis L. Ganter.
She was a 1959 graduate of Reading High School, and attended the University of Miami. Cookie graduated from beauty school and traveled, trained, and performed around the world with many of the best hairstylists. She was the Regional Art Director of Boscov's Hair Salons from 1985 to 2007 and most recently the Director of Education at Lords and Ladies Salon and Medical Spa.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughters: JoLynne (Eberhart) Brew, wife of Harlan Brew of Wyomissing; Jaime L. (Eberhart) Tashjian, wife of David Tashjian of New York, NY; and Joie M. (Ganter) McKim, wife of Terence McKim Jr. of Sinking Spring.
There are also three grandchildren: Taylor and Carley Brew and Conley McKim; and one on the way: Baby Tash! She is also survived by her loving Maltese, Martini.
Cookie was an inspiration to all whose lives she touched. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and best friend. She was the "Wind Beneath Our Wings".
The family requests that no flowers be sent, and instead Memorial Contributions be made out to "Berks County Community Foundation" in favor of "The Cookie Ganter Memorial Scholarship Fund for Cosmetology" ( needs to be footnoted on the check). C/O Berk
