Paul J. "Bud" Bross, Jr. 73, a resident at the Highlands at Wyomissing, passed away Tuesday, July 4, 2017 at 5:53 am in his residence. Born in Reading, Mr. Bross was the son of the late Paul J. Bross, Sr. and Mary (Kramer) Bross. He was a 1962 graduate of Central Catholic High School and a 1967 graduate of McCann School of Business with a degree in Computers. Mr. Bross served in the United States Air Force during Vietnam and the Cuban Missile Crisis. He was stationed at Kadena Air Force Base in Okinawa, Japan and Cartwright Air Station in Labrador, Canada in the 922nd AC&W Squadron. Mr. Bross was employed as a computer operator at UGI for 37 years, retiring in September of 2004 and later worked as a part time usher and security guard at the Sovereign Center and the Sovereign Performing Arts Center for 9 years. He was a member of the Ken Grill Recreation Center and served on the Board of Directors in the late 1980's. He enjoyed vacationing in Hawaii and had a passion for World War II History which was highlighted by a ride on the B-17G Flying Fortress "Yankee Lady" this past June at World War II Weekend. Mr. Bross is survived by his sisters Marie P. Bross of Reading and Ann Marie Sheaffer, wife of John F. Kosmoski, Jr. of Shillington and his nephew Jacob L. Sheaffer of Crested Butte, Colorado and a step-niece Hilary Koons of Reading.
Funeral Procession will depart Bean Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, North 16th & Rockland Streets, Hampden Heights, Monday, July 10, 2017 at 9:15 am.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the Chapel of Saint George at Gethsemane Cemetery, 3139 Kutztown Road, Laureldale, Monday at 10:00 am. Reverend Guency Isaac, Celebrant. Entombment with Military Honors will follow in Gethsemane Cemetery Mausoleum. The family will receive relatives and friends in Bean Funeral Homes & Cremation Services Monday 8:15-9:15 am. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to either Wounded Warriors Project of Pennsylvania One Oxford Center, 301 Grant Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15219 or Mid Atlantic Air Museum 1054 Arnold Road, Reading, PA 19605 in memory of Mr. Paul J. Bross, Jr. The family would like to thank the staff at The Highlands at Wyomissing Personal Care Unit and Compassus Hospice for their care, guidance and friendship during Paul's (Bud) illness.
