Patricia Burky

Patricia A. (Fordyce) Burky, 72, of Kenhorst, passed away on Monday, June 28, 2010 at 10:00 p.m. at home surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Reading, she was the daughter of the late Raymond J. Fordyce, and Anna (Martin) Fordyce. She was the widow of Melvin R. Burky, who passed away on January 28, 2000.

She was a 1955 graduate of Central Catholic High School. Pat was a devoted mother who enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, sisters, their families, as well as friends. She worked at Alvernia College (now Alvernia University) since 1980. She worked with the staff at the library for a number of years and later worked in the campus bookstore, retiring in March of 2010.

Pat enjoyed babysitting her grandchildren, reading, listening to music, collecting lighthouse mementos, and vacationing at the New Jersey beaches with her family.

She is survived by her sons: Scott R. Burky, husband of Kay E. Burky of Lititz, and Steven R. Burky of Reading; daughters: Susan L. Burky of Wyomissing, and Stephanie L. (Burky), wife of Kenneth Carsto of Shoemakersville.

There are also two grandchildren: Angelina and Logan.

She is also survived by her sisters: Mary (Fordyce) Graham of Mount Laurel, NJ, and Madge (Fordyce) Thuss of Shillington
