Olga Burns

Olga J. Burns, 89, of Spring Township, passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 30, 2016 in her home. She was the wife of Donald J. Burns with whom she would have celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on June 22, 2016. In addition to her husband Donald, Mrs. Burns is survived by her daughters Sharon D. Royle, wife of Donald E. Royle of Sinking Spring; Patti B. Davis, wife of Stephen W. Davis of Reading and Stacey A. Elliott, wife of John S. Elliott of Linglestown. She is also survived by her grandchildren Jeffrey Royle; Jason Royle; Kelly Davis; Sean Elliott; Cady Elliott and Ryan Elliott along with her great grandchildren Joseph, Emma and Cassie Royle. Mrs. Burns was preceded in death by her brothers Walter and Russell Chernago and her sister Stephanie Ott. Born in Shamokin, she was the daughter of the late Wally and Catherine (Bukowski) Chernago. She was a 1944 graduate of Shamokin High School and was a member of Saint Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Reading where she served as a lector and Eucharistic Minister. Olga was a member of Chicks for Charity in Wyomissing and a volunteer for the Reading Food Bank. She most enjoyed her time spent with family and friends traveling and playing cards.
Funeral procession will depart Bean Funeral Home, North 16th & Rockland Streets, Hampden Heights, Monday, April 4, 2016 at 9:15 am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Joseph Roman Catholic Church 1018 North 8th Street, Reading, PA 19604 at 10:00 am. Entombment will follow in Gethsemane Cemetery Mausoleum. The family will receive relatives and friends in Bean Funeral Home, Sunday, April 3, 2016 6-8:00 pm and Monday 8:45-9:15 am.
