Nicholas J. Salakos, 89, of Cumru Township, passed away January 8, 2011 at 6:10 pm in his residence of natural causes. His beloved late wife Theano (Patsourakos) Salakos passed away July 5, 1995. Born in Newark, NJ, he was the son of the late James P. and Marika (Devouros) Salakos. He was a graduate of Freehold High School and earned an associate degree from Perth Amboy Polytech in 1945. Mr. Salakos was a manufacturing engineer at Rockwell International for 36 years retiring Spetember 30, 1982. He served his apprenticeship as a tool and die maker. He was an Army Air Corp veteran of World War II serving 76 combat missions. He received the Distinguished Flying Cross and Air Medal with an Oak Leaf Cluster. He was a member of Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church, member of Chandler Lodge 227 F&AM and served as past president of church council at Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church in 1966. Surviving are several nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his brother Leonidas Salakos.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Building Fund of Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church.
