Nancy Williams

Nancy Carolyn Williams of Reading, Pennsylvania passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of November 5, 2022, with her daughter Cara by her side. She was 89.

Born November 21st, 1932 in Gadsden, Alabama to Marvin & Frances (Whorton) Waldrop. In her younger years, Nancy enjoying dancing and community theatre, where she met the love of her life in 1953, late husband Douglas Williams. A love story for the ages, it was love at first sight. Their sixty-two year marriage welcomed four beautiful children, and Nancy’s love of travel took them on adventures from Alabama to Canada. An accountant by trade, she was a loving mother and volunteer, serving others at the Reading Hospital and as the secretary for the International Carnival Glass Association, an extension of her passion for Carnival Glass.

Her beloved husband Douglas preceded her into the next world on March 5, 2016, as did their three sons, Russell, Craig, and Lance.

Nancy will be missed by an adoring family, including her daughter, Cara Williams Fry and son-in-law T Fry of Pullman, Washington; her four grandchildren, Megan Werner and husband Jared of Lancaster, PA, Ian Sterling Crammer of Dobbs Ferry, NY, Carter Fry of Lancaster, PA, Gretchen Fry of York, PA; two great-grandchildren, Ella and Charles Werner; and her brother, Marvin “Sonny” Waldrop, Jr of Gadsden, Alabama.

The family thanks the wonderful staff at Ephrata Manor for their loving and dedicated care of Nancy throughout her final days. We will be forever grateful for the moments of joy you created for Nancy, and the comfort you provided for us. Thank you.

Nancy was a gentle soul, her bright smile a window into a generous, loving spirit. Words fail to describe how much she will be missed, but we take comfort knowing she’s now reunited with the love of her life, walking hand in hand toward their next adventure together.

Funeral Service will be held at Bean Funeral Home 129 East Lancaster Ave. Shillington, Friday, November 11, 2022 at 1:00 pm.  Reverend Timothy D. Speicher will officiate.  Interment will follow at Forest Hills Memorial Park.  The family will receive relatives and friends at Bean Funeral Home Friday from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm.  In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Make-A-Wish Philadelphia, Delaware & Susquehanna Valley, 1054 New Holland Ave. Lancaster, PA 17601 in memory of Mrs. Nancy C.
