Miriam Kauffman

Miriam B. Kauffman, 89, formerly of Reading, passed away April 5, 2011 at 4:05 am in Longwood Manor, Maytown, PA a resident since July 2009. She was the wife of the late Walter E. Smith who passed away June 14, 1984 and the late Amos Kauffman who passed away September of 2000. Born in Denver, PA she was the daughter of the late Rufus and Eva M. (Becker) Michael. Mrs. Kauffman was employed by Berkshire Knitting Mills for 10 years as a needle inspector. She was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Mohnton. She is survived by her daughter Patricia A. wife of Edward A. Heffner of Elizabethtown and her son Paul E. husband of Patti Smith of Oahu, Hawaii. She is also survived by her grandchildren Michael, Lora, Thomas, Lisa Marie and Dee Anne along with 7 great grandchildren. Also surviving are her sisters Hazel Sterling of Reading and Betty Esterly of Leesport and her brother Rufus Michael, Jr. of Birdsboro.
