Mildred R. Schleifer

Mildred R. Schleifer, 102, formerly of Wernersville, passed away Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at Oak Leaf Manor South, Millersville. She was the wife of the late Kermit L. Schleifer who passed away July 26, 2019. Born in Colesville, Pennsylvania, Mrs. Schleifer was the daughter of the late Wilson H. and Edna (Miller) Reichard. She was a graduate of Liberty High School in Bethlehem and received an associate degree from Bethlehem Business College. Mrs. Schleifer was a faithful member of St. John’s (Hain’s) United Church of Christ and was employed by Bethlehem Steel for several years and then was a devoted homemaker and mother. She was a remarkable baker and her grandchildren loved her cakes. She hosted wonderful holiday and birthday gatherings for the family. She lived independently until 101 at Phoebe Berks. 

Mrs. Schleifer is survived by her daughter Lois M. Nase wife of Edward M. Nase of Lancaster, and her daughter-in-law, Patricia L. Schleifer of Robesonia. She has four wonderful grandchildren and their spouses: Monika Deeds (David); Rebeka Burr (Mark); Douglas Nase (Anna); Victoria Moran (Kevin) and one great-grandson Luke Capozzi. She was preceded in death and sorely missed her sons Thomas R. Schleifer and Robert E. Schleifer and her sister Arlene Schaeffer and brother Charles Reichard.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Bean Funeral Home, 3825 Penn Ave. Sinking Spring on Wednesday, May 22, 2024 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.  The Memorial Service will follow at 11:00 am. Reverend Mark Johnson of Hain’s UCC will officiate. Interment will be private and held at Trinity Great Swamp United Church of Christ Cemetery, Spinnerstown. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. John’s (Hain’s) UCC, 591 North Church Road, Wernersville, PA 19565 in memory of Mrs. Mildred R. Schleifer.
