Michael Craig Aten Sr
Born May 11, 1944, in Danville, PA, and raised in Wernersville, PA. Michael Aten was called home to his Lord and Savior on August 18, 2016.
He was predeceased by his loving parents, Charles Aten Sr. and Katherine (Sidler). Michael was married to Jacqueline (Hepler)Aten - the love of his life for 48 blessed years.
Michael is survived by his loving sons, Michael C. DeLong of Reading; Michael C. Aten, Jr. husband of Nicole (Rollman) of Riverview Park; Scott K. Aten, husband of Amy (Wagenhurst) of Blandon.
Michael is survived, by his grandchildren: Sarah, Carter, Leigha, Amber, Nadia, and Branden
Michael is survived by his brothers, Charles C. Aten, Jr., husband of Leona; Jack C. Aten, husband of Louise; sister, Jean C. Rittenhouse, wife of the late David A. Rittenhouse.; Sr and brother-in-law, Stanley B. Hepler, Jr. He also has several nieces and nephews.
Michael is also survived by his life-long friend who was his "look alike" brother, Louis M. Augustine.
Michael was a high school graduate of Wilson High School, class of 1963.
Michael proudly served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corp.
He was a faithful member and dedicated servant of the former St. Thomas UCC, Reading.
Michael was employed by Metropolitan Edison for over 30 years primarily at the Titus Station in Cumru Township.
Michael was survived by his loving canine and "baby girl", Zoe.
Michael was an avid fisherman that loved to travel to both Raystown Lake and annual trips to Canada. He also had a passion for golfing in which he scored a hole-in-one which was an achievement not accomplished by many. He also enjoyed having card games with the guys and always enjoying his ice cream treats.
The family would like to offer special appreciation to Michael's dedicated caregivers from Heartland Hospice, especially Ms. Carlene Bond who went above and beyond for our beloved husband, brother, father, and grandfather.
Funeral Service will be held in Bean Funeral Home, North 16th & Rockland Streets, Hampden Heights, Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at 11:00 am. Reverend Charles S. Nease, Jr. will officiate. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Laureldale Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends Wednesday 9:30-11:00 am. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to St. Jude's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 in memory of Mr. Michael C.
