Melvin Reigner, Sr

August 18, 1933 — April 4, 2009

Melvin E. (Skip) Reigner, Sr., 75 of Cumru Township, passed away peacefully April 4, 2009 among family members in Beebe Medical Center, Lewes, Delaware where he was a patient since March 26, 2009. He was the husband of Shirley L. (Orth) Reigner to whom he was married for 33 years. Born August 18, 1933 in Spring Township, he was the son of the late John E. and Evelyn P. (Lee) Reigner. Skip attended the Shillington High School and left school to enlist in the Navy. He served during the Korean War and was honorably discharged at the war's end in 1953. He was employed by Dana Corp. Parrish Division in Reading for 35 years as a welder retiring in 1988. Skip enjoyed working hard, sailing, traveling and spending time with family and friends. He was a lifetime member of the Reinholds VFW, Gouglersville Fire Company, Reamstown AA and the American Legion Post 28, Oak Orchard Riverdale, Millsboro, Delaware. In addition to his wife he is survived by his children Melvin E. Jr. husband of Susan Reigner of Boyertown; Marcia E. wife of Jeffrey J. Kulp of Mohrsville; Leisha E. Randazzo of Reading. He is also survived by step children Eugene K. husband of Deborah Boas of birdsboro; Rick R. husband of Carol A. Boas of Cumru Township; Miriam E. Hasker of Mohnton along with 15 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Also surviving are his brothers John husband of Dorothy Reigner of Emmaus; Grant husband of Myrna Reigner of Birdsboro and his sister Shirley Rudy of Adamstown. He was preceded in death by his sisters Sandra Simons and Gloria Reichardt and his beloved step-daughter Sharon (Sherry) Hamilton.
