Mary E. Mohn, 91, formerly of Robesonia, passed away October 10, 2009 at 8:23 pm in The Reading Hospital & Medical Center a patient since October 4, 2009. She was taken to the hospital from ManorCare, Spring Township where she resided for 2 years. She was the wife of the late Chester A. Mohn, Jr. who passed away March 1, 1996. Born in Baltimore, MD, she was the daughter of the late Edgar and Ethel(Terry) McComsey. She was a member of West Lawn United Methodist Church. Mary was a lifetime Shillington resident. She was a graduate of Shillington High School where she excelled in sports. She lettered in both girls track and basketball, where she played forward and was described as "quick". Her first employment was as a knitter at the Berkshire Knitting Mills where she met her husband, Chester. After their marriage, she devoted herself to the task of homemaker and assisted her husband in his varied businesses, ranging from lunch truck operator to tax collector. In her later years, she worked at Palmer Candy in West Reading. She and her husband loved to travel to various locales for dinner, and she played a mean game of pinochle. In her waning years, she was devoted to her great grandchildren, Benton and Kate, enjoying reading to them and playing games. She is survived by her son, David A. husband of Judie M. Mohn of Robesonia and her daughter Linda L. (Mohn) wife of Cary G. Shaner of West Lawn along with her grandchildren Daniel D. Mohn, Kelly L. Shumaker and Mark C. Shaner and great grandchildren Benton R. and Kate Elizabeth. She is also survived by her brother Oliver J. McComsey of Shillington and sisters, Ethel Mays of West Lawn and Emily Johnson of West Lawn.
