Mary E. Glass

It is with both great sadness and great joy we announce the home going of Mary E. Glass on November 29, 2024 of Grill, PA. She was 98 years old. She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Harry M. Glass. Mary was born October 2, 1926 in Towanda, PA, to Claude and Mary (Heath) Hardinger. When she was 2, the family moved to Millmont, PA. 

Mary was predeceased by sisters Ruth (Maurer) and Arlene (Wentzel) and brothers Norman and Richard. She is survived by sister Betty (Hartline) and brother Irvin. She is also survived by sons Robert M., Reading, PA and David M. and daughter-in-law Sarah (Lewis) of Rockford, TN. There are four grandchildren Robert, John, Tony and Mary-Caroline. There are seven great grandchildren: Isabella and Gideon, children of Robert and Heather; Ginger, daughter of John and Brianna; Ava, Ivanna, and Oswald, children of Tony and Sarah; and Melissa, daughter of Mary-Caroline and Adam Stump. 

Mary attended Reading High School. She was employed at Berkshire Knitting Mills. Later she worked with the fashion designers at Berkshire. She worked with her sister at Ruth Maurer Draperies until retirement. 

Mary was a member of Christ (Yocom’s) Lutheran Church, where she had been a Sunday school teacher and sang in the choir. She was also a lifetime member of the Lady’s Auxiliary of the Grill Fire Company. 

Services will be held at Bean Funeral Home, 129 East Lancaster Ave., Shillington, on Friday, December 13 , 2024 at 11:00 am, with Pastor Scott Davis officiating. Friends may visit from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Forest Hills Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Christ (Yocom’s) Lutheran Church, 840 Philadelphia Ave, Shillington, PA 19607 in memory of Mary E. Glass.
