Mary E. Dykty

Heaven gained an angel on February 11, 2024 when Mary E. (miller) Runge Dykty, 90, passed away at The Heritage at Green Hills due to Alzheimer’s disease.  Born on August 7, 1933 in Reading Mary was preceded in death by her husband’s Leo F. Runge and Stanley J. Dykty.  She was the daughter of the late Paul and Dorothy (Kniss) Miller.  Mary graduated from Central Catholic High School.  She was a secretary for Joe G. Walters.  Mary married Leo F. Runge and became his secretary for Runge Plumbing and excavating then Atlas waterproofing, both owned and operated by Leo.  After his passing she met and married Stanley J. Dykty and became his secretary for Jenni Oaks Clock Shop, owned and operated by Stanley.  When in high school she worked for Early’s Candies and later for Gates and Billy’s Chocolates.  She operated her own candy stand at the Fairgrounds Market for a few years.  Mary is survived by daughters Mary Beth Moser wife of Gary Moser of Geigertown; son Keith A. Schaeffer husband of Connie Schaeffer of Wyomissing; step-daughters Deborah Quinnette wife of James Quinette of South Carolina and Linda Righter wife of William Righter of Oregon.  She was loved by her many grandchildren and great grandchildren and loved them deeply as well.  Mary was preceded in death by her step-son Mark Runge. She is also survived by her brother Joseph Miller husband of Phyllis Miller of Leesport.     We could not have asked for a better mother.  She was wonderful, loving and compassionate, always wanting to help others.  She loved her family and enjoyed when we could get together.  Mom enjoyed trips, reading, dancing, parties and life in general.   Her passing is a great loss to our close family and we will miss her terribly. The family would like to thank Bayada Hospice for their compassion in taking care of mom in her final days.  We would like to thank the staff at The Heritage for the years of giving mom wonderful care.
