Mary Anne Beasten

Mary Anne Beasten, of Exeter Township, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 20, 2023 surrounded by her loving family, following a short illness. She is survived by her devoted husband of 40 years, David C. Beasten.   Born in Annapolis, Maryland, Mary Anne was the daughter of the late Frank and Anne (Quirk) Bruther.  She lived a varied life from working on Maryland’s thoroughbred horse tracks as a groom in Bud Delp’s stable that saddled several thousand winners, most notable Spectacular Bid’s 1979 triple crown run that fell short in the Belmont Stakes.  Following that, she worked in research and quality control chemistry, before switching to teaching chemistry in high school, and college.  She ended her teaching career as a chemistry instructor at Temple University.  Most of all, she enjoyed being a stay-at-home mom.  She is survived by her two children, Amy Elizabeth Beasten, PhD of Waxhaw, North Carolina (wife of Kenneth L. McMillin) and Andrew David Beasten of East Rochester, New York (husband of Caitlin Beasten) and her grandchild Rory Eris Beasten. She was preceded in death by her brothers Dr. William F. Bruther and Thomas Richard Bruther.

Celebration of Life Tribute Service will be held at Bean Funeral Homes & Crematory 6 Fairlane Road, Exeter Township, Friday, December 1, 2023, at 3:00 pm.  Amy S. Landis, Celebrant, will officiate.  Interment will be held at the convenience of the family.  The family will receive relatives and friends at Bean Funeral Homes & Crematory Friday from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the DVDPA (Delaware Valley Doberman Pinscher Association) 357 Third Avenue Phoenixville, PA 19460, in memory of Mary Ann Beasten.
