Martin Hardy

August 15, 1922 — February 11, 2016

Martin L. Hardy, 93, of Wernersville, passed away on February 11, 2016 at The Reading Hospital and Medical Center.
Born in Tyrone, PA he was the son of the late James F. and Anges M. (Smith) Hardy.
Mr. Hardy was a US Navy Veteran, serving his country during World War II as a gunner's mate in the Atlantic and Pacific Theatre.
Martin was employed as a Welder and Furnace Tender at Dana Corporation for 35 years. He was an avid wood worker and furniture maker. He enjoyed watching the Philadelphia Eagles, Phillies, and Flyers. He enjoyed attending Wilson Wrestling and Football events, and also served on the board of the Wilson Booster Club. He was very proud of his High School Football Career at Tyrone High School, where he participated in the 1940 State Championship. On Sundays, he attended New Beginnings Grace Brethren Church in Myerstown.
He was predeceased by his wife: Margaret A. (McFarland) Hardy , grandaughter: Kimberly Hardy, and Brothers: Francis J. and Dennis Hardy.
Survivors include: Children: Barbara A. Screpesi, wife of Michael B. of Sinking Spring, Donald E. Hardy, husband of Jamie of Youngsville, PA, and Denise M. Brightbill, wife of Rickie of Myerstown. Grandchildren: Stacy L. Keely, wife of Brian of Leesport, Richard M. Reisch, husband of Brandi J. of Bernville, Joie M. McKim, wife of Terrence of Sinking Spring, Rachel L. Schoffstall, wife of Jody K., TJ Hardy, husband of Catie of McGuire Air Force Base, and Jay Hardy of Warren, PA
A service will be held at Bean Funeral Home, 3825 Penn Ave., Sinking Spring, on Monday, February 15, 2016 at 10:00AM. The family will receive friends and relatives from 9-10:00AM. The burial will follow at Mohn's Hill Cemetery.
