Mark R. Otis, 65, of Cumru Twp., passed away on Friday, May 28, 2010 at 5:07 a.m. at home.
Born in Springfield, VA, he was the son of the late Henry and Gladys (Weaver) Otis, and husband of Dr. Arlene (Gross) Otis. He was pre deceased by his first wife: Nancy K. (Rockey) Otis, who passed away in 1992.
He was a 1962 graduate of Springfield High School, and earned his Bachelors Degree in Art from Carson Newman University in Tennessee. He later obtained his Masters in Health Education and Administration at St. Joseph's University in Philadelphia.
He worked in Administration and as a Supervisor for Kidspeace, Manito, and the Reading Hospital Center for Mental Health, working with emotionally & behaviorally challenged children. Prior to moving to the area, he served as the Vice President of Operations for Media Child Guidance Clinic, Media, PA. He also worked with mental health associations for the State of Pennsylvania.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by 3 sons: Jeffrey S., husband of Christina (Newman) of Atlanta, GA, Steven M., husband of Maureen (Gallagher) of Pottstown, and James B. of Phoenixville.
There are also four grandchildren: Alexander, Carolyn, Evan, and Lily.
He is also survived by a sister: Joyce (Otis) Craghead of Springfield, VA.
