Marjorie M. Kulp, 84, of Fleetwood, passed away Saturday, May 13, 2017 at 9:00 pm in Penn State Health-St. Joseph Hospital. Born in Reading she was the daughter of the late Robert L. and Alice M. (Young) Kulp. Margie grew up in Reading and had many wonderful childhood adventures with her cousins, Doris and Hayden on her aunt and uncles farm in Fleetwood. Her school days were spent with her life long friends Bobby, Gloria and Gerri. Margie graduated from Reading High School in 1951 and became a career woman. She was an office manager for the former J.C. Walters Insurance Agency in Reading for 43 years retiring in 1995. Margie was a member of the First Evangelical Congregational Church in Reading and was an active member of the Green Lariat Riding Club. She served as an officer and organized numerous horse shows and trail rides. Her greatest accomplishment was traveling to horse shows with Skipper Boy. They came home with many championship ribbons and trophy's. Margie and Skipper Boy were the team everyone wanted to defeat but few ever did. After they retired from the show circuit, she and Skipper Boy spent a lot of happy hours on lazy trail rides. Neighbors will always remember hearing her off key whistle and friendly hello as she rode by. Margie's happiest days were those spent at her little house in Fleetwood, jokingly named the Ponderosa. She, her parents and her foster sister, Fern, shared many wonderful days there. She will always be remembered for her devotion to her family and her love for animals, especially her horses, Skipper Boy and Clea and her may dogs over the years, Trixie; Silla; Asta; Briar; Casper; Kenhorst and Bradley. She was a strong, independent women and lived her life her way. She had a very deep faith and a great trust in God. We know she is at peace in Heaven and reunited with her beloved Mama, Daddy, Fernie, and dear Aunt Elsie. Margie is survived by her cousins Doris Reeves of Shillington; Vicki L. Snyder, wife of Stuart M. Snyder of Fleetwood; Carl Goodhart, husband of Michelle Goodhart of Reading and Jean Strickler of Harrisburg. Her family would like to thank the Evans Family and the nursing staff for the care they gave to Margie. She especially enjoyed the conversations, laughter and friendships she shared with Ruby, Betty and Diane.
