Maria J. (nee DiMartino) Shaud, 87, of Reading, passed on from this Earth on Friday, May 14, 2010.
Born in Palermo, Sicily, she was the daughter of the late Salvatore DiMartino and Anna (Tedesco) DiMartino. She was the wife of Lamont J. Shaud, who passed away on April 29, 1986. They met, fell in love, and married in Palermo during World War II, as he was an American soldier there. After coming to the States, she taught herself how to read and write English.
She was a member of Holy Guardian Angels R.C.C. She loved to cook for her family friends. Among her many specialties were Pizza, Spaghetti, and her famous meatballs.
She is survived by her loving daughters: Mary Ann (Shaud) Graul, widow of Robert G. Graul Sr. of Reading; and Rosann (Shaud) VanLear, widow of Terry VanLear of Laureldale; and a loving son: Gregory J. Shaud of Reading.
She is also survived by eleven grandchildren, and eighteen great grandchildren.
She is survived by her brother: Pieatro DiMartino of Palermo, Sicily.
While she enjoyed cooking and other activities, nothing brought her more joy than spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
