Margaret Assemes

Margaret Assemes, 96, formerly of Reading, passed away Thursday, January 4, 2018 at 6:40 pm in Berks Heim. She was the wife of the late George Assemes who passed away November 6, 2012. Born in Reading, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Alice(Himmelberger)Planer. Mrs. Assemes was a member of Zion Mennonite Church in Birdsboro and was a packer at BERCO Industries in Shillington for 6 years and a House Mother at Freedom Gate Halfway House in Reading for 12 years. She is survived by her son Louis Assemes, husband of Sandra Assemes of Mohnton and her daughters Georgine Martinez of Reading and Constance Sayer of Reading and her 8 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. Margaret loved her family with all her heart and was loved just the same. She is also survived by her brother Luther Planer of Shillington and her sister Ruth Bowen, wife of Robert Bowen of Connecticut and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial Service will be held in Zion Mennonite Church, 582 Zion Road, Birdsboro, PA 19508, Thursday, January 11, 2018 at 11:00 am. Pastor Steve Musselman will officiate. Interment will follow in Zion Mennonite Church Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends in Bean Funeral Home 129 East Lancaster Ave. Shillington, Wednesday, January 10, 2018 from 5:00-7:00 pm and in Zion Mennonite Church, Thursday, 10:30-11:00 am.
