In Loving Memory of Marcia Lynn Evans
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Marcia Lynn Evans, a beloved wife, mom, mother-in-law, nana, sister, aunt, and friend. She passed peacefully from a lengthy illness on October 17, 2023. Marcia's journey through life was marked by love, perseverance, and a remarkable devotion to her family.
Born Marcia Lynn Knowles on February 5, 1955 in Reading, PA to her parents, Sophie “Sue” Czartorynski and Walter Knowles, she grew up in Sinking Spring, PA and lived most of her life in West Wyomissing, PA. Marcia is survived by her husband of 52 years, Rick; daughters, Tricia, wife of Rob Szurgot, and Kelly, wife of Joe Bradley; three grandsons, Mason Bradley, Jack Szurgot, and Owen Bradley; and brother, Gary Knowles, husband of Dawn. She was also surrounded throughout her life by her large extended Polish family of many aunts, uncles, and cousins, and many life-long friends in and around Sinking Spring and West Wyomissing.
Marcia's greatest joy and accomplishment was her family and being a devoted wife, mom, mother-in-law, nana, sister, and aunt. She was so proud of her daughters Tricia Szurgot and Kelly Bradley and loved being “Nana” to her grandsons. She was a beloved aunt to Jared Knowles and his son Ayden. Marcia shared a close and special life-long bond with her brother, Gary. In recent years, as Marcia battled her illness, Gary and his wife Dawn became a close and special presence that brought her tremendous joy, peace, and comfort.
In her youth, Marcia's caregiving spirit and warm smile captured the hearts of those around her. She was small in stature but mighty in spirit, with inner strength, steadfast devotion, and limitless hope and care for her husband, daughters, and grandsons. Marcia graduated from Wilson High School and raised her family in West Wyomissing, PA, where she lived for more than fifty years. She cherished the many close, lasting, and multi-generational friendships and many memories made there over the years. Marcia never missed a loved one’s birthday, anniversary, or special occasion. She always made sure those around her knew they were loved, remembered, and celebrated with a meaningful gift, card, note, reminder or, as her health declined, call or text.
She was a life-long and dedicated donor to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. She donated religiously every month for decades, even when money was tight because “the children need it more than us.” Marcia devoted her life to her family, and loved sharing meals with family and friends. She loved chocolate and homemade Polish food including golumpki, pierogi, and chrusciki. Gerber daisies were her favorite flower.
Let us celebrate her life and the beautiful legacy she leaves the world through her two daughters, three grandsons, and future generations.
At Marcia’s request, there will be no services. Her daughters are committed to carrying out their mom’s wishes and ask that you celebrate and remember their beloved mom in a way that’s meaningful to you based on your relationship with her. Sympathy cards and messages for her family can be sent through Bean Funeral Home, Sinking Spring. In lieu of flowers, Marcia has asked that her family and friends please consider a recurring donation to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in her name so that her devotion to children may continue.
