Marcelino Mercado, 65, of Reading, passed away June 11, 2011 at 7:55 AM in Reading Hospital & Medical Center where he was a patient since May 27th. He was also known as "Willie" and "Mike". He was the husband of Marcia A. (Stine) Mercado, his companion since 1975 who he married in October of 1998. Born in Lares, Puerto Rico on April 26, 1946, he was the son of the late Marcelino Mercado and the late Maria Lopez.
He was employed for 20 years as a truck driver for various mushroom farms in Temple and later worked as a machinist for Rockwell International for 20 years retiring in 1998.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter Shawnee M. Stine of Reading and a son Alexander M. Stine at home, a grandson Noah X. DeJesus, and ten brothers and sisters Fernando Viruet of Boston, MA, Alejandro Rodriguez, Benito Vasquez, Angel Luis Vazquez, Rafael Vazquez, Silma Rodriguez, Marisol Vazquez, Laura Vazquez, Sartia Colon and Lillian Colon all in Lares, Puerto Rico.
On July 15, 1998 Marcelino had a heart transplant. He loved to go fishing and to Penn National Race Track to watch the horses run.
