Mame J. Bona, 81, of Spring Township, passed away Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at 9:40 am in the home of her son Richard J. Bona, Jr., husband of Dorthea R. Bona, of West Hartford, Connecticut. She was the wife of the late Richard J. Bona who passed away September 14, 2009. Born in Wilkes-Barre, Mrs. Bona was the daughter of the late William and Alice (Cotton) Maschal. She was a member of West Lawn United Methodist Church and served as past vice president, secretary and treasurer of the United Methodist Women. Mrs. Bona was a 1951 graduate of Hanover Township High School, a 1952 graduate of Wyoming Seminary and a 1954 graduate of Wilkes-Barre Business College with a degree in Business. She was employed as an executive secretary for Pennsylvania Gas and Water in Wilkes-Barre from 1952-1962, then for Becton-Dickinson in Rutherford, New Jersey from 1962-1965 and then from 1982-1996 was employed by the Wilson School District as a secretary. In addition to her son Richard, Mrs. Bona is survived by her grandchildren Marilena M. Bona, Alexandros A. Bona and Evangelia A. Bona and was preceded in death by her daughter Carolyn J. Bona, October 18, 2013.
Funeral Service will be held in West Lawn United Methodist Church, 15 Woodside Ave. West Lawn, PA 19609, Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at 10:00 am. Reverend Jeffrey A. Raffauf will officiate. Interment will be held privately in Oaklawn Cemetery, Wilkes-Barre. The family will receive relatives and friends in West Lawn United Methodist Church Tuesday 9-10:00 am. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to West Lawn United Methodist Church Memorial Fund at the above address in memory of Mrs. Mame J. Bona.
