Lucille Sue Jacobson, PhD

Lucille Sue Jacobson, PhD, formerly of Pennside, passed away Monday, December 2, 2024 at 2:28 pm at Hebrew Home, Rockville, Maryland. She was the wife of the late Alvin Jacobson. Born in Philadelphia, Mrs. Jacobson was the daughter of the late Harry and Ida (Freedman) Auslander. She was a 1953 graduate of Reading High School and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Speech Therapy from Syracuse University in 1961. She later received her Master’s Degree from Temple University in 1965 and her PhD from Penn State University in 1996. Mrs. Jacobson was a Speech and Language Pathologist at Berks County Intermediate Unit and Reading School District for 30 years retiring in 1991. She was Past President of Shomrei Habrith Synagogue, Berks Hearing Impaired, Antietam School District and Avalon Historical Society. Mrs. Jacobson served as Treasurer of Beth Judah Synagogue in Wildwood, New Jersey from 2004-2005. She served on the Board of Trustees of the Women’s Civic Club in Avalon since 1993 and on the Board of Directors of Avalon Performing Arts since 1999. She also served on the Board of Directors Fine Life of Cape May since 2004. Mrs. Jacobson is survived by her children Sherry Ann Kantor of Kensington, Maryland; Philip L. Kantor of Conway, Massachusetts; Eric S. Kantor of Annapolis, Maryland and was preceded in death by her daughter Laura S. Kantor in 1974. She is also survived by her step-son Jacques Jacobson husband of Jenny Jacobson of Wyomissing; step-daughter Rachel L. Jacobson of Virginia and her 3 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild and 1 step grandchild. 

Graveside Service will be held at Mount Sinai Cemetery 328 New Holland Ave. Shillington, Thursday, December 5, 2024 at 10:30 am. Rabbi Brian I. Michelson will officiate.
