Linda Frey

Linda Eileen Hilgendorf Frey, 72, of Mohrsville, passed away on Saturday, January 30, 2010 at 2:34 a.m. at home surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Reading, she was a daughter of the late J. Edgar Hilgendorf and Evelyn (Lawrence) Hilgendorf.

She was the wife of Robert R. Frey Jr. The couple shared 54 wonderful years of marriage.

She was a 1955 graduate of Reading High School, and a member of Bern Evangelical Lutheran Church, where she was a member of the Senior Berners.

Following in her father's footsteps, she worked for Berks County for 32 years, serving four terms as the Recorder of Deeds. She was the former State President of the PA Recorder of Deeds Association. She was a member of Altrusa Women's Club.

She was an avid Reading and Philadelphia Phillies fan, and played volleyball in her youth. She loved to sew, and made her daughters clothing when they were younger. She enjoyed gardening, and feeding the birds. She also looked forward to her monthly "Lunch Bunch" outings with her friends.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son: Robert R. III, husband of Debra Frey of Wernersville; and daughters: Sue L. (Frey), wife of Frank Wiczkowski of Wyomissing; Michelle R. Frey of Temple, and Brenda L. Frey of Mohrsville.

There is also a granddaughter: Melinda.

She is also survived by her brothers: Larry Hilgendorf of Austin, MN, and J. Karl Hilgendorf of Sinking Spring; a sister: Ann (Hilgendorf) Meyers of South Heidelberg Twp.; and several nieces and nephews.

Of all of her hobbies and interests, none were as important as spending time with her loving husband, children, granddaughter, and family.
