Lillian J. (Clemison) Dunbar, 84, formerly of Spring Township, passed away Saturday, July 13, 2024. She spent her final days surrounded by her adoring family & loving caregivers at Oak Hill Village, Middletown, PA. Lillian was the devoted wife of the late George J. Dunbar.
Born in Reading, Lillian was the daughter of the late Walter and Phoebe (Bliesath) Clemison. A 1958 graduate of Reading High School, Lillian enjoyed her years working in retail at Boscov’s West, and she was a skilled wig maker and business owner. Still, the roles Lillian held most dear were those of wife, mother, and grandmother.
She is survived by a daughter, Heather L. (Dunbar) Sellars, wife of D. Troy Sellars, of Hershey; two granddaughters, Shelby M. Sellars and Ashley C. Sellars; sister, Elizabeth J. Iaeger, wife of Fred Iaeger; and, brother Daniel J. Clemison. Lillian was predeceased by husband George; sister Sarah E. Szczepanski; and, sister Edith J. Burkhart. She was loved dearly and will be missed by all.
Lillian enjoyed music, knitting, reading, cooking, and making people laugh. She will be remembered for her sharp sense of humor and her ability to make those around her feel special. Even when words began to fail her, she could always find a way to say, “I love you”.
She loved being “Gammy” to granddaughters Shelby and Ashley. The girls in turn loved the friend and troublemaker they found in their grandmother. She adored animals of all kinds, especially the rescue cats she and her husband took in over their years together.
Lillian and George shared a vivid and beautiful 57-year marriage. They enjoyed sailing the Chesapeake Bay and attending car shows in their red 1934 Chevy coupe street rod. Their favorite adventures of all were those they shared with their family.
Funeral service will be held at Bean Funeral Home, 3825 Penn Ave., Sinking Spring, Tuesday, July 23, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Forest Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive relatives and friends earlier that morning, from 8:00 to 10:00 a.m.
