Lewis E. Schoener, 86, of Country Meadows of Wyomissing, formerly of Riverview Park, passed away on Thursday, February 4, 2010 at 4:12 p.m. at the Reading Hospital and Medical Center, where he had been a patient since January 31st.
Born in Hamburg, he was the son of the late Lewis F. Schoener and Minnie T. (Evans) Schoener.
He was the widower of Dorothy L. (Althouse) Schoener, who passed away on July 25, 2005.
He was a 1941 graduate of Hamburg High School, and attended Wyomissing Polytechnic Institute.
He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving as a Staff Sgt. during World War II.
He worked as a Quality Control Inspector for Rockwell International, the former Textile Machine Works for 43 years, retiring in 1985. He was a member of the Chandler Lodge #227 F & AM, of the Rajah Temple Concert Band, String Band and Dance Band, and of the Scottish Rite Consistory.
He is survived by his daughters: Lorriane C.(Schoener) Snyder of Perkiomenville, and Janet L. (Schoener), wife of Warren Heinly of Bethany, PA.
There are also five grandchildren: Abigail, Kristen, Zachary, Martha, and Nathan; and a great grandson: Caleb.
