Leslie Heere

Leslie Harold Heere, 89, of Maidencreek Township, passed away in his home on Tuesday, March 8, 2022.  Born in West Reading, he was the son of the late Ruth N. (Weber) and Harold J. Heere.  Leslie graduated from Reading High School Class of 1950 and received a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Wyomissing Polytech in 1952.  He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War.  Leslie was the loving husband to Gloria J. (Steininger) Heere, who passed July 9, 2018.  Leslie worked until he was 85 years old, first as a Tool & Die Maker at Dor-Mae Industries for 14 years then as a Security Guard for 15 years.

Leslie was a devoted member of Alsace Lutheran Church where he taught Sunday School, sang in the Choir, served on Church Council, and was recently the Vice President of the Senior Club.  He was a driver for the Muhlenberg Ambulance Association and for Goodwill Fire Co., and a Firefighter at Goodwill Fire Co. for some time.  Leslie served on the Board of Directors of Reading Civic Opera and built scenery for plays.  He was a proud Eagle Scout and has the pins to show for it.  Leslie enjoyed making clear toy candy around Christmas time with his sons.

Leslie is survived by his sons, Craig A. Heere, husband of Lisa of Sunbury, Ohio, and Brian S. Heere, companion of Linnae Peifer of Sinking Spring.  Also surviving are his grandchildren, David Heere, Amanda Kiefer, wife of Kyle, Katie Heere, and Daniel Heere, and his brother, Douglas K. Heere of Gibsonia, PA.  In addition to his wife Gloria, Leslie is preceded in death by his brother, Gerald Heere who passed March 5, 1978.

A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, March 14, 2022 at 12:00 pm in Bean Funeral Home, 1605 Rockland Street, Hampden Heights.  Rev. Richard A. Nelson to celebrate.  The family will receive friends and relatives Monday, March 14, 2022 from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm.  Interment will follow the services at Alsace Cemetery with Military Honors rendered by the United States Army.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Arthritis Foundation in honor of Mr. Leslie H. Heere at P.O.
