Leonard Shearer

Leonard L. Shearer, 93, of Shillington, passed away May 19, 2009 at 10:40 AM in Manor Care Health Services, Sinking Spring. Born in Shillington on October 29, 1915, he was the son of the late William B. and Carrie C. (Haller) Shearer.

Mr. Shearer was a graduate of the Wharton School of Business of the University of Pennsylvania. He was employed as an accountant and financial analyst by Rockwell International for 45 years retiring in 1978.

Surviving are a son Leonard L. Shearer at home and a cousin Anna J. Moody of Wilshire.

Mr. Shearer was the Past President of Reading Chapter of the National Association of Accountants in 1964-65, and it's most valuable member in 1967. He was a member of the Board of Directors of the Pennsylvania Economy League from 1964 until 1970. He was a member of Immanuel UCC in Shillington and was a former Deacon, Elder and Elder Emeritus, Past President of the Congregation and Consistory 1960-1961 and Past Treasurer from 1954 until 1981.
