Leo Harter

Leo Hans Harter, 96, passed away Friday, April 13, 2018 at 8:21 pm in Berks Heim. He was the husband of Irene Mary (Hiryak) Harter. Born in Germany, Mr. Harter was the son of the late Leo and Rosa (Schneider) Harter. He was employed by Dana Corp as a welder and served in the United States Army during World War II. In addition to his wife, Mr. Harter is survived by his daughter Sandra Lee Grove, wife of the late Gus Nazzaro of Reading; Michele Lee Fromuth, wife of Michael Fromuth of Sinking Spring and Marcia Lee Zerbe, wife of Gregory Zerbe of Leesport and his grandchildren Jason, Tiffany, Marlelle, Jeremy and Brittany and his great grandchildren Karli, Parker and Teagan. He is also survived by his siblings William Harter, husband of the late Lola Harter; Walter Harter, husband of Mary Harter of Ohio and Betty Lou Rittenhouse, wife of the late Bill Rittenhouse of Oley. Mr. Harter was preceded in death by his brothers Charles, John and Joseph and his sister Mary Geible.
Funeral Service will be held in Bean Funeral Home 3825 Penn Ave. Sinking Spring, Thursday, April 19, 2018 at 11:00 am. Reverend Kerry L. Hicks will officiate. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Pleasant View Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends in Bean Funeral Home Thursday 10:00-11:00 am. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 in memory of Mr. Leo Hans Harter.
