Lawrence S. White, Sr., 94, of Wyomissing, PA, passed away on May 17, 2017, at The Reading Hospital.
Born in Chelsea, MA, he was the son of the late Benjamin and Minnie (Glazer) White.
Mr. White proudly served his country in the US Army during WWII as a 1st Lieutenant in the Signal Corps in the South Pacific. He went on to graduate with a degree in Physics from MIT in 1947. Lawrence was employed as a Physicist at National Lead Co. for 22 years and at Hoffmann-LaRoche for 15 years, retiring in 1985. During his tenure, he received several patents in metallurgy and pharmaceutical manufacturing.
In 1968, Lawrence served as president of the Monmouth Co., NJ, Chapter of American Chemical Society and as committee chairman for Boy Scout Troop #17 in Fair Haven, NJ. He is the past president of the Residence Council of The Highlands of Wyomissing.
He was predeceased by his wife: Helen G. (Greville) White.
Survivors include his children: Lawrence S. White, Jr. of Chatham, NJ and Jeffrey G. White of Raleigh, NC. Also surviving are 4 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at the convenience of the family.
