Kermit Koehler

October 11, 1934 — June 20, 2015

Kermit A. Koehler, 80, of Cumru Twp., passed away June 20, 2015 in St. Joseph Medical Center.

He was the loving husband of Thelma G. (Kincaid) Koehler; together, they celebrated 56 years of marriage.

Born in Nazareth, Northampton County, he was the son of the late Earl D. and Mazie I. (Stout) Koehler.

Mr. Koehler was a graduate of Nazareth High School in 1952.
He proudly served two TET offensive missions in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War.

In 1973, he retired from the Navy and went on to be Supervisor of Lab Technicians at St. Joseph Medical Center. He officially retired in 2010, working more than 40 years at SJMC.

Kermit was past president of the Muhlenberg Lions Club, served on the Board of Directors of the Muhlenberg Ambulance; Life member of VFW Post #8795, Adamstown; member and Chaplain of Laureldale American Legion; Life member of Disabled American Veterans; member of Vietnam Veterans of America and of the Fleet Reserve.

Surviving in addition to his loving wife, Thelma, is a sister, Renee E. Williams, Asheville, NC; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Bill, Karon and Colin Brosey, Reading. He was predeceased by siblings, Kenneth Koehler and Marion I. Shook.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Mr. Koehler's memory to American Cancer Society , 498 Bellevue Avenue, Reading, PA 19605.
Funeral Services will be held in Bean Funeral Homes, North 16th & Rockland Sts., Hampden Heights, Friday, June 26, 2015 at 11:00 a.m., Rev. Michael Snedeker, officiating. Burial will follow with military honors in Laureldale Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends 10:00-11:00 a.m.
