Kenneth Walker

Kenneth W. Walker, 92, of Exeter Township, passed away Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at 12 Noon in Reading Hospital. He was the husband of the late Jane L. (Sassaman) Walker who passed away December 15, 2014. Born in Reading Mr. Walker was the son of the late Howard W. and Martha Mae (Krall) Walker. He was a 1943 graduate of Heidelberg Township High School in Lebanon County and was a member of Hope Lutheran Church in Reading. Mr. Walker served in the United States Army in World War II where he was the recipient of a Purple Heart. He was employed as a material handler at Narrow Fabric Industries in Wyomissing for over 45 years. Mr. Walker served as vice president of Hope Lutheran Church Council and was involved with various barber shop quartets over 60 years including the Penn Tonics quartet and Reading Pretzel City Chorus. Mr. Walker is survived by his sister in laws; Ruth Ann Eyrich, wife of M.T. "Butch" Eyrich of Brookhaven, PA; Sharon Zajdowicz, wife of Edmond Zajdowicz of Womelsdorf; brother in laws David C. Sassaman of Shillington; William H. Sassaman a guest at Berks Heim and Kenneth A. Sassaman of Shillington. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and great great nieces and great great nephews, especially his niece, Jane S. Manmiller, wife of Eugene C. Manmiller who attended to his needs.
Funeral Service will be held in Bean Funeral Home, 3825 Penn Ave. Sinking Spring, Monday, February 20, 2017 at 10:00 am. Reverend Mary E. Wolfe will officiate. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Pleasant View Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends in Bean Funeral Home Sunday, February 19, 2017 from 6:00-8:00 pm. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Hope Lutheran Church Memorial Fund 601 North Front Street, Reading, PA 19601 in memory of Mr. Kenneth W. Walker.
