Kathryn F. Schmoyer, 99, of Wyomissing, passed away Saturday, July 3, 2021 in Reading Hospital. Kathryn was born May 21, 1922 in Slatington Pa. She was one of four children born to the late George and Elizabeth (Parry) Krause of Schnecksville Pa. She was married January 1, 1944, at Neff’s Church, to Harvey L. Schmoyer, Jr., who passed away May 18, 2000. Kathryn was a 1940 graduate of South Whitehall High School. In her earlier years she worked at Hess Brothers in Allentown. She was employed by the Wilson School District in Food Service for 18 years until her retirement.
Mrs. Schmoyer is survived by her children Richard H. Schmoyer (wife Joan) of East Berlin, PA; James G. Schmoyer (wife Stephanie) of Exeter Township; John P. Schmoyer (wife Karen) of Adamstown, and Susan E. Neithamer of Sinking Spring. She is also survived by her sister Elizabeth Johnson of Nashville, TN. Kathryn was predeceased by her brother Robert Krause and sister Ann Krause.
Kathryn truly loved her grandchildren: Jeffrey Schmoyer, Laura Bayer, J. Zachary Schmoyer, Katie Medill, J. Eric Schmoyer, Leah Hirschbeck, Becca Ohlsen, Lindsay Singh, Ryan Neithamer along with her 14 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She enjoyed traveling with family throughout the USA and Europe. Taking on golf in her 40’s, Kathryn helped organize the woman’s golf league at Village Greens. Many memories were made there well into her early 90’s.
The family thanks the entire staff at Country Meadows for the great care and concern they gave our mother for the last eight years. She always spoke highly of everyone. We also appreciate the attention she received at Reading Hospital.
Interment will be at Neff’s Union Cemetery, Schnecksville. A Celebration of Life Service will be held privately by the family at a later date.
