Kathleen Harris

Kathleen Ann Harris, 69, of Exeter Township, passed away Sunday, June 3, 2018 at 2:00 pm in Reading Hospital. She was the loving wife of Gene R. Harris. Born in Reading, Kathy was the daughter of Julia (Mondello) Calvaresi of Reading and the late Anthony Calvaresi, Sr. She was a 1966 graduate of Reading High School and received a bachelor's degree in elementary education from Kutztown University and her master's degree in education with a principal certificate from Wilkes University, graduating with honors from both. Kathy was a corporate secretary at Carpenter Technology for 10 years, a secretary with the Reading School District for 20 years and retired from the Exeter Township School District in 2010 after 11 years as a teacher, Assistant Principal, and as Director of Math. Kathy was a member of Saint Catharine of Siena Roman Catholic Church. In addition to her husband Gene and mother Julia, she is survived by her sons Bradley G. Harris, husband of Jennifer L. Harris of Spring Township and Todd A. Harris, husband of Melissa S. Harris of Lancaster and her grandchildren Mason, Tyler, Derek, and Riley. Kathy is also survived by her brothers Dominic Calvaresi of Maryland, Anthony Calvaresi, Jr. of Reading and her sister Ann Marie Calvaresi-Barr, wife of David Barr of Maryland, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Kathy loved gardening, cooking/baking, and the beach, specifically Myrtle Beach and St. Augustine Beach. She lived for entertaining, hosting many gatherings and holiday celebrations. She loved laughing with her family and spoiling her very lucky grandchildren. Kathy supported her family's many interests and could always be found cheering from the stands of many baseball, football, soccer, and basketball games, as well as numerous concerts, plays, and musicals.
Prayer Service will be held in Bean Funeral Homes & Crematory, 6 Fairlane Road, Exeter Township on Thursday, June 14, 2018 at 11:00 am. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family. The family will receive relatives and friends in Bean Funeral Homes & Crematory Thursday 9:00-11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Exeter Community Education Foundation 200 Elm Street, Reading, PA 19606 or to a charity of your choice in memory of Kathy.
