Joyce Griffith

Joyce V. Griffith, 90, of Cumru Township, passed away Saturday December 19, 2020 at 6:06 pm in Penn State Health-St. Joseph Hospital.  She was the wife of Harvey B. Griffith.  Born in Reading, Mrs. Griffith was the daughter of the late J. Calvin and C. Romaine (Nase) Styer.  She was a 1948 graduate of Shillington High School and was a member of St. John’s Reformed Church in Sinking Spring.  Mrs. Griffith was employed by Bell of PA as a traffic supervisor for 22 ½ years retiring in 1971 and also worked in the recovery room at Reading Oral Surgery in Shillington from 1985-1990 retiring in 1990.  She was past volunteer with the Literary Council; was a member of Alvernia Seniors College; former Sunday School Teacher; past Choir member; member of Altar Guild at Christ Yocom’s Church for 55 years and was a member of Bell Telephone Pioneers.  Mrs. Griffith is survived by her son Michael K. Wertz, husband of Sandra R. Wertz of Exeter Township and her daughter Jodi L. Griffith-Allsopp, wife of Arthur Allsopp of Plymouth, Mass.  And her grandson Michael K. Wertz, Jr.  husband of Reverend Chera Wertz and her grandson Caleb Wertz.

Funeral Service will be held in Bean Funeral Home, 129 East Lancaster Ave. Shillington, Thursday, January 7, 2021 at 1:00 pm.  Reverend Robert S. Ziehmer will officiate.  Interment will be held at the convenience of the family.
