Joseph “Joe” Henry Kuhn, 93, died Wednesday, March 19, 2025, in Wernersville, Pennsylvania. Born March 29, 1931, in Reading, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Joseph and Mary (Fath) Kuhn. Joe was the husband of Hildegarde “Dolly” Elsie (Dahl) Kuhn. Joe and Dolly were married on April 14, 1951 and shared 71 wonderful years of marriage. They enjoyed hunting, fishing and world travel with family and friends.
Joe was drafted in 1952 into the US Army during the Korean War. He made the rank of sergeant while stationed at Aberdeen Proving Ground in Maryland as a math and machine shop instructor.
For 30 years, Joe worked at Berkshire Knitting Mills (which became Vanity Fair, later VF Corporation). He worked at the Reading, Lebanon, and Andrews, North Carolina facilities. Joe started in the maintenance department sweeping floors at age 16 and worked his way up to plant manager in Andrews, North Carolina assigned the task to make this facility a success or shut it down. He was successful in turning this facility with 500 employees into a profitable manufacturing plant. Joe and his family then returned to the Reading area and he joined Met-Ed in 1977 as a Traffic Administrator responsible for procurement and oversize load move logistics retiring in 1991.
Joe is survived by his two sons, Karl (Susan) Kuhn and Paul (Pamela) Kuhn; four grandchildren: Eric (Ira) Kuhn, Scott Kuhn, Jill (Dylan) McNally and Chad (Abigail) Kuhn and four great grandchildren. Also by his siblings Caroline (Snyder) Condash, JoAnne (Kuhn) Heller and Robert Kuhn. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister Carlissa (Snyder) Snyder.
Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, March 26, 2025 at 10:00 am in Bean Funeral Home, 129 East Lancaster Ave. Shillington. Friends may pay their condolences on Wednesday from 9:00 am to 10:00 am. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery.
