John V. Yoshida

John V. Yoshida, 83, of Lower Alsace Township, passed away Friday, February 23, 2024 at Penn State Health-St. Joseph Hospital.   He was the husband of Deborah J. (Ulle) Yoshida.  Born in Philadelphia, Mr. Yoshida was the son of the late Yasohichi Yoshida, MD and Marie (Conrad) Yoshida.  He was a 1959 graduate of Monsignor Bonner High School in Drexel Hill, PA.  He was employed by St. Luke’s Regional Medical Center in Boise, Idaho as the Director of Supply, Processing & Distribution until his retirement in 2006 and served proudly in the United States Navy.   In addition to his wife, Mr. Yoshida is survived by his children: Jacqueline S. Messer, wife of Andrew Messer of California; Thomas V. Yoshida, husband of Teresa Yoshida of North Carolina; grandchildren Yalvani, Christopher, Michele and Daniel, and great grandchildren Aiden and Lucas.  He is also survived by his siblings William Yoshida, husband of Isabel Yoshida of Virginia Beach , Virginia; Marie Echelmeyer, wife of Frederick Echelmeyer of West Chester; Theresa Sherwin, wife of the late William Sherwin, MD PhD of Wynnewood; Anna Prebis, wife of James Prebis, MD of Hinckley, Ohio and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his first wife, Michele H. Yoshida, in 1978 and by his sister Rose Mary Yoshida in 2016.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Catharine of Siena Roman Catholic Church 4975 Boyertown Pike, Exeter Township, Thursday, February 29, 2024 at 10:30 am.  Reverend Brian M. Miller, Celebrant.  Interment with Military Honors rendered by the United States Navy Honor Guard will follow at Saint Peter the Apostle Church Cemetery, Reading.  The family will receive relatives and friends at Saint Catharine of Siena Roman Catholic Church Thursday from 9:15 am to 10:15 am.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Monsignor Bonner & Archbishop Prendergast Catholic High School at www.bonnerprendie.com
