John Yocum, Sr

John W. Yocum, Sr., 87, of Exeter Twp., passed away July 7, 2010 at 7:50 PM in his residence. He was the husband of Goldie M. (Walleisa) Yocum who passed away September 12, 2001. Born in Reading on March 11, 1923, he was the son of the late George C. and Jennie B. (Klopp) Yocum.

Mr. Yocum was employed for a total of 41 years first working as a delivery man for Blue Mountain Dairy and later Clover Farms Dairy, retiring as a sales representative on November 1, 1988. He attended Alsace Lutheran Church and St. Catherine of Siena RCC. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the 615th Engineers Equipment Company rising to the rank of Tech Sergeant 4th grade.

Surviving are 2 sons John W. Yocum, Jr. husband of Lynn E. (Mogel) Yocum of Temple; Jeffrey B. Yocum husband of Cindy L. (Wunder) Yocum of Exeter Twp.; 3 daughters Susanne M. (Yocum) wife of Willard Campbell of Las Vegas, Nevada; Marilyn L. (Yocum) wife of William M. Shanfelder of Akron, and Louise A. (Yocum) wife of Harry A. Mirenna of Exeter Twp.; 15 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; a brother Charles F. Yocum husband of Lou Yocum of Wernersville and Mr. Yocum's companion Helen Kern of Reading. He was predeceased by a grandson Jonathan R. Yocum on March 12, 2005.
