John W. Warren, 88, formerly of Cumru Township, passed away Decmeber 3, 2010 at 5:15 pm in Phoebe Berks Health Care Center. He was the husband of Betty Jane(Kestner)Warren. Born in Cedar Top, PA he was the son of the late John F. and Harriet(Kemmerer)Warren. Mr. Warren was a 1939 graudate of Reading High School and a 1941 graduate of Wyomissing Ploytech Institute where he studied Engineering Technology. He served as a wood pattern apprentice at Textile Machine Works for 4 years. He attended Penn State University from 1948-1949 where he studied Industrial Engineering and graudated from Elizabethtown College in 1975 with a Bachelor Degree in Technology. He received honor of Certified Professional Manager in 1977 from Institute of Certified Managers. Mr. Warren retired from Rockwell International in 1982 as Director of Foundries following 44 years of service. He served in the United States Navy in WWII. He served many community and technical organizations as Director, Chairman or President. Foreman's Club, Manufacturers Association of Reading and Berks County, American Institute of Industrial Engineers, Society for the Advancement of Management, American Foundry Society, Foundry Educational Foundation, Penn State Foundry Educational Bard Member, Life Member of Penn State Alumni, 8 years as Governor Mifflin School Board Member, Chandler Lodge 227 F&AM, Lodge Council Chapter Consistory-Valley of Reading, and Rajah Temple in Reading. In addition to his wife he is survived by his son John L. husband of Louise M. Warren of Shillington, granddaughter Nicole Warren Missimer wife of Jeremy J. Missimer, great grandsons Zachary Warren Missimer and Noah Warren Missimer. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter Michelle L. Warren in 1999.
