John D. Walker, 77, of Spring Township, passed away Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at 5:15 pm in Reading Hospital. Born in Clearfield, PA he was the son of the late Carl E. and Hazel F. (Fullington) Walker. Mr. Walker graduated from Clearfield High School and attended Shippensburg University, Penn State University and the Pennsylvania State Police Academy. He was employed as a supervisor for North American Refactoring in Womelsdorf; facilities manager for Penske; salesman for Prudential Insurance Company and a sales associate at Lowe's on 5th Street Highway.
He was a member of VFW Post 6150, Sinking Spring; was active in Boy Scouts growing up and served as a scout leader; was a master fly fisherman; master chef; enjoyed fishing trips with his family to Delaware and Maryland and people often referred to him as a Websters Dictionary. He served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam Era on the USS Everett F. Larson. Mr. Walker is survived by his daughters Stephanie Ann Walker of Sinking Spring and Kathryn E. Walker of Shillington along with his grandchildren Gracie Mae Rowley, Emma Rose Walker, Charlie Andrew Walker-McKechnie. Also surviving is his former wife and best friend to the end, Jenny.
Funeral Service will be held in Bean Funeral Home, 3825 Penn Ave. Sinking Spring Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at 6:30 pm with Military Honors to follow. Reverend Paul L. Jones will officiate. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family. The family will receive relatives and friends Wednesday 5:00-6:30 pm.
