John Stremba Jr

July 24, 1932 — March 25, 2009

John J. Stremba Jr., 75, of West Lawn, passed away Wednesday, March 25th at 4:52 a.m. at St. Joseph's Medical Center, where he had been patient since February 24th.

Born in Reading, he was the son of the late John J. Stremba Sr. and Mary (Wochok) Stremba. He was the husband of Rose L. (Primak) Stremba at home.

He was a 1951 graduate of Central Catholic High School, and US Navy Veteran, serving during the Korean War.

He worked as a salesman for Yeager Supply in Reading for 15 years, retiring in 1999. He previously worked as a salesman for the former Hajoca Company in Reading for 25 years.

He was a member of Nativity of BVM Ukrainian Catholic Church, Reading. He was also a Life Member of the West Lawn Fire Co., where he was a former volunteer firefighter and worked in fire police.

He loved his garden, and growing tomatoes, string beans, and asparagus among other vegetables. He also loved woodwork, creating bookshelves and cabinets.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters: Elaine M. (Stremba) McFayden of Bechtelsville, Christina M. (Stremba) Ennis of Lincoln University, PA; and a son: David J. Stremba of San Diego, CA.

He also survived by five grandchildren: Andrew, Grace, Alexandra, Brianna, and Lucas.

He is also survived a brother: Matthew D. of Baltimore, MD; and sisters: Theresa (Stremba) Boyce of Blackwood, NJ and Sister Rita Stremba- O.S.B.N. of Fox Chase Manor, PA, and nieces and newphews.

In lieu of flowers, Contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 25 Stevens Ave., # A-10, Reading, PA 19609, and Nativity of BVM Ukrainian Catholic Church, 630 Laurel St., Reading, PA 19602.
