John E. Rundle, husband of Marion J. passed away peacefully at home, the early morning of December 7, 2024, after battling pancreatic cancer. Born on December 1, 1949, he was the son of Granville and Mary (Rodolff). He has an older brother Robert, husband of Susan, and was predeceased by a younger brother William (2020), husband of Deborah. Marion and John have three daughters, Deanine Moyer; Tina, wife of Doug Carr; and Jonelle, wife of Daniel Soeffing, and a son, John M., husband of Sheila. There are seven grandchildren, Kelsey, wife of Tim Palatucci; Gage Whitman; Karson and Miles Davenport; John and Sam Soeffing; and Samie Rundle. There are also three great grandchildren, Landon, Oliver, and Sadie Palatucci.
John served as an alter boy and was a boy scout at St. Joseph in Reading. After graduating from Reading Central Catholic in 1967, he enlisted into the U.S. Air Force where he served four years including a year in Thailand during the Vietnam War. After being discharged, he changed from his Air Force blues to Postal blues. He had a thirty-five year service as a postal carrier in Reading and finished his last ten years in the Crestwood, Mt. Penn area. He never expected to leave Berks County but upon retiring, babysitting duties called. He and Marion lived in Malvern, Chester County, for eight years. They decided to downsize and moved into a rancher in Myerstown, Lebanon County. John met quite a few special friends over the years like Carl W., Steve H., John Z., and Larry M. and Larry Boyer. He always tried to do a good turn daily and lived by the scout laws. To keep Marion updated, this scout was Trustworthy, Loyal, Helpful, Courteous, Kind, Obedient, Cheerful, Brave, Clean, and Reverent.
