John Donald "Donnie" "Pop" Kirlin, 85, of Wernersville, passed away after a brief illness at The Reading Hospital.
Born in West Lawn, he was the son of the late John D. and Esther C. (Haas) Kirlin.
John was a US Army Veteran proudly serving during peacetime; he went onto serve in the US Army Reserve for 8 years. He was employed as a Truck Driver for the Teamsters and worked as a Custodian for the Reading School District for 10 years. He was the loving companion of the late June E. Hillman, with whom he spent 42 years. Together they enjoyed a carefree life of leisure, playing bingo, cards, and games of chance. He will be remembered for being an avid Philadelphia Sports Fan. John and his family greatly appreciated his niece, Stephanie L. Orzech, and her husband Greg for their devotion and compassionate care displayed during his time of need.
He was predeceased by his son: Michael D. Kirlin.
Survivors include his children: Kevin J. Kirlin and Scott K. Kirlin; step-children: Bonnie J. Miller, Lori E. Patterson, and Cheryl Santoro. Also surviving are grandchildren: Charity M. Kirlin, Faith A. Mitchell, Joshua M. Kirlin, Scott K. Kirlin, Jr., Amanda Kirlin, Ryan S. Kirlin, Bryan S. Kirlin, Nathan M. Kirlin, Ryan W. Miller, Justin Patterson, Matthew Patterson, Timothy M. Santoro, Nicole M. Wolf, and Phillip M. Santoro, 18 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild, brother: David W. Kirlin, husband of Linda and sister Carolyn Dendler, wife of Dennis.
Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
