John K. Kieffer, 83, of The Masonic Village in Elizabethtown and formerly of Sinking Spring, passed away October 16, 2010 at 1:20 PM in the Masonic Home Healthcare Center where he was a patient for 2 weeks. He was the husband of Gloria F. (Boyer) Kieffer who passed away September 7, 1997. Born in Ashland on December 14, 1926, he was the son of the late Harry and Edna (Kepner) Kieffer.
Mr. Kieffer graduated from Ashland High School and Weidner University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry. He was employed as a chemist at Gilbert Associates and later at Spotts, Stevens & McCoy until his retirement. He served in the US Army during World War 2.
Surviving are 2 sons John A. Kieffer husband of Karen L. Kieffer of Lancaster and James M. Kieffer husband of Mandy L. Kieffer of Sinking Spring and 4 grandchildren Alexa, Jason, Jared & Joseph.
Mr. Kieffer was a former Scout Master of Troop # 431, was an Eagle Scout, was a member of Williamson Lodge # 307 F & AM where he served as recorder from 1994 - 2004 and was a member of The Legion of Honor.
