John "Jack" R. Hollinger, 102, a resident of Phoebe Berks Village for over 20 years, passed away November 5, 2015 in Phoebe Berks Healthcare Center.
He was the husband of E. Jeannette (Von Nieda) Hollinger, who passed away February 17, 2000.
Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Thomas G. and Susan M. (Werner) Hollinger.
Mr. Hollinger was a US Marine veteran, serving during World War II and was employed at Carpenter Technology as an Iron Worker for 22 years, retiring in 1978. He was a member of University Rifle Club, Lodge member of Royal Arcanum and Treasurer of Car Tech Rifle Club.
Some of the many things Jack enjoyed were swimming, fishing, visiting Florida, rifle shooting, and most importantly spending time with his family. He was an extraordinary man who touched many people throughout his long life.
Jack was predeceased by his daughter Joan E. Snader, September 20, 2005; youngest grandson Kevin S. Snader and siblings Laura Boady, Catherine Gehry, Edna Ringler, Clair Hollinger and Richard Hollinger.
Survivors include grandchildren Mark A. Snader, husband of Linda J., Lewes, DE; Linda S. Vicari, wife of Anthony, Sinking Spring; four great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of John R. Hollinger to Phoebe Ministries, 1925 Turner St. Allentown, PA 18104.
Services will be held in Bean Funeral Homes, 3825 Penn Avenue, Sinking Spring, Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at 11:00am, Rev. Dr. Naomi Dublanica officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Park with military honors. The family will receive relatives and friends 10:00-11:00am. In addition, a memorial service will take place in Phoebe Berks Village Chapel, 1 Reading Drive, Wernersville, PA 19565 on November 21, 2015 at 2:00pm.
