John W. Bean

John W. Bean, 76, of Rockland Township, passed away Monday, July 22, 2024, at 5:11 pm in his residence. He was the husband of Pauline (Buckwalter) Bean. Born in Lebanon, Mr. Bean was the son of the late Charles Martin Bean and Margaret Elizabeth (Darkes) Bean. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from Messiah College. Mr. Bean was a house-builder, problem solver extraordinaire, teacher, chemist, runner, hiker, loving husband and father, and man of God. He was a 42-year member of the Ark Bible Chapel in Boyertown where he was very active. He was employed as a Lab Supervisor for PB Heat in Boyertown until his retirement. Mr. Bean served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era. In addition to his wife he is survived by his children Andrea Yvonne Hess wife of Douglas Hess of Liverpool; Jonathan Charles Bean husband of Emmeline Zhu of Providence, Rhode Island; Emily Elizabeth Wangolo wife of Simon Wangolo of Oley; Susanna Naomi Bean-Jones wife of Chidiki Bean-Jones of Arlington, Virginia; and his grandchildren Stephen, Isaiah, Jania, Obabiah, Sarah Grace, Lydia, Mercy, Petero, Daniel, Jeremiah and was preceded in death by his granddaughter Lily Hope. Also surviving are his siblings James Bean husband of Christine Bean of Hewitt, New Jersey; Rose Fry wife of Dale Fry of Cleona; Ruby Bean of Schaefferstown.

Funeral Service will be held at Bunker Hill Evangelical Congregational Church (2208 PA Route 72, Lebanon, Pennsylvania 17046) on Saturday, July 27, 2024, at 11:00 am. Reverend James Ralph will officiate. Interment will follow at Bunker Hill Evangelical Congregational Church Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends at the Ark Bible Chapel (88 Woodchoppertown Road, Boyertown, PA 19512) on Friday, July 26, 2024, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm and Saturday from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Bunker Hill Evangelical Congregational Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Ark Bible Chapel at the above address in memory of Mr. John W. Bean.
