John Bainbridge

March 23, 1932 — January 24, 2009

John W. (Jack) Bainbridge, 76, formerly of Shillington, passed away early in the morning on January 24, 2009 in the Reading Hospital.

Jack was the beloved brother of Richard A. Bainbridge, Birdsboro; Jane B. MacIntyre, Medford, NJ; the late Anne E. Hurd, Ambler; and Charles McGovern, Yardley. Jack was also the very proud uncle of 9 nieces and 6 nephews and the proud great uncle to all their children.

Born in Troy, NY, Jack grew up to have many different servant-type vocations- Goodwill Industries and custodian for the Baptist Church and then the Methodist Church in Collingswood, NJ. Then Jack's life brought him to Shillington where he served as a volunteer for the Multiple Sclerosis Society and the United Way, both in Reading. He was a member of Atonement Lutheran Church in Wyomissing.

Jack moved to The Lutheran Home at Topton in 1998 where he became an active member of the community, serving terms as the president and/ or the vice president of the Resident's Association. Jack was always very happy to be an integral part of the life of that community. He also attended classes with The Literacy Council, several times attaining the most improved student award.

Jack will be best remembered for his awesome spirit for life. He adored and loved deeply his family and friends. Despite his handicap, Jack lived life to the fullest and taught all those who knew him to do the same.

In remembering Jack, you may honor his life with a contribution to The Lutheran Home, 1 Home Ave., Topton, PA 19562.
