In Loving Memory of Joanna (Joan) Mae Evans
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Joanna Mae Evans, a beloved wife, mom, grammy, sister, aunt and friend. She passed away peacefully on January 7, 2024 at home, She was predeceased by her loving husband Charles R. Evans Jr, passing January 28, 2022. They shared over 69 years of marriage. She was also predeceased by her sister, Sallie Dautrich.
Joanna was the daughter of the late John D and Alice ( Derr ) Renno. She was a member of One United Church of Christ, Kenhorst, Pa. Joanna was a pairer at the former Berkshire Knitting Mills for 23 years and worked as a quality control inspector at the former Sharpoint, currently ALCON for 20 years.
Joanna is survived by her son Gregory Charles, companion of Carol of Robesonia and daughter Kimberly Joan Brinker, of Sinking Spring. She is also survived by her two grandsons, David Gregory, son of Gregory Charles and Erin Michael, wife Karen, son of Kimberly Brinker, and two beautiful great grandchildren, Chase and Ella.
Joan was happiest when surrounded by her family. She loved hosting 4th of July picnics in the backyard every year, always making her homemade wedding soup. She enjoyed traveling to Rehoboth Beach with her family. Joan was an avid Bingo player, whether at a local carnival or bus trips to New York, she enjoyed Bingo. She also loved taking fun day trips to the casino. When her children were younger she was a girl scout leader with the nickname of "Candy", as she loved candy, especially chocolate. She was also a den leader for the cub scouts, holding meetings in the family room of her home.
Joans greatest accomplishment was her family. She was so proud of her children, Gregory and Kimberly and being Grammy to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Let us celebrate her life and the beautiful legacy she leaves the world through her two children, 2 grandsons, and 2 beautiful great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held in Bean Funeral Home 129 E. Lancaster Ave, Shillington, on Tuesday, January 30th at 11:00am. The family will receive guests in Bean Funeral Home, Shillington, on Tuesday from 10:00AM to 11:00AM. Online condolences may be made at www.beanfuneralhomes.com
