Joann King

JoAnn (Shugar) King, 74, of Muhlenberg Township passed away on Thursday April 19, 2018 at her Residence. She was the beloved wife of the late Gillum King. Born in Reading, she was the daughter of the late Walter Shugar and Marjorie (Horne) Shugar. JoAnn owned and operated Contemporary Personnel Inc. for 10 years, was an avid card maker, and often enjoyed making things for her family, which often included dinner. Her specialty item was mayonnaise cake, which was the best chocolate cake you'd ever taste. She cherished spending time with her family and her three dogs: Buddy, Fred, and Ginger. She is survived by her children; Scott Lesher, husband of Maureen of West Wyomissing; Lorri Reed of Severn, Maryland; and Valerie Mogel, wife of Robert of Lincoln Park; and Steve King; five grandchildren; Bobby, Bryan, and Ben Mogel, Alex and Samantha Reed; six great-grandchildren; nephew Jason Shugar; and brother Mike Shugar. JoAnn is predeceased by her brother Jack Shugar.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Bean Funeral Homes 3825 Penn Avenue, Sinking Spring, PA 19608 on Friday April 27, 2018 at 1:00pm. Amy S. Landis, Certified Celebrant, will be officiating. Interment will be following the service at Charles Evans Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends from 11:00-1:00pm at the funeral home on Friday.
